ART AND STORIES

My name is Roosevelt Lewis and I am a painter, sculptor, playwright, poet and humanitarian.

It was as a small boy, in the middle of a cotton field on Cane River in Central Louisiana, after a hard rain I took my hands and shaped the red mud into a three dimensional figure.  I have been creating art for over fifty years and I have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Central America.

I moved to Seattle, Washington forty-six years ago. I was a member of the South East Seattle Arts Council, South East Crime prevention Council, Disabled American Veterans, National Association of Black Veterans, Renton Arts Commission, National Alliance of Black Artists, South East Youth and Family Services and South Shore Community Council.
